FAQ
Is vaginal dryness normal in midlife?
Yes.
Hormonal changes during perimenopause and menopause commonly reduce natural lubrication and affect tissue elasticity. Dryness, irritation, and discomfort are very common.
You are not alone.
Many experts, including the North American Menopause Society, emphasize that “regular vaginal activity through menopause helps keep the vaginal tissues thick and moist.”
That activity can include partnered intimacy, self-stimulation, or simply maintaining regular circulation and engagement with the tissue.
At Intimate Wellbeing, we believe in a simple framework:
Hydrate. Lubricate. Vibrate.
Because midlife intimacy often requires more than one solution.
What do you mean by Hydrate. Lubricate. Vibrate.?
We call it the Trifecta.
Hydrate: Use a vaginal moisturizer regularly to support tissue hydration over time.
Lubricate: Use a lubricant during intimacy to reduce friction and improve comfort.
Vibrate: Gentle vibration can increase blood flow and circulation, which supports tissue health and responsiveness.
Many women are told to “just use lube.” In reality, midlife tissue often benefits from consistent hydration and regular stimulation as well.
You do not have to do all three at once. But together, they support comfort, circulation, and confidence.
Will this fix painful sex?
Painful sex in midlife is often linked to dryness, reduced elasticity, and increased friction.
For many women, combining hydration and lubrication significantly improves comfort.
Adding gentle stimulation can also support blood flow, which plays a role in tissue health.
That said, pain can have multiple causes. If discomfort is ongoing, sharp, or accompanied by other symptoms, we recommend speaking with your healthcare provider.
Our products are designed to support comfort and tissue health. They are not a medical treatment.
What’s the difference between a moisturizer, a lubricant, and a vibrator?
They do different jobs.
A vaginal moisturizer is used regularly, every few days, to help maintain hydration.
A lubricant is used during intimacy to reduce friction.
A vibrator provides stimulation, which increases blood flow and supports tissue responsiveness.
Midlife women often need more than one tool. That is normal.
If you are unsure where to start, email us at hello@intimatewellbeing.com and we will guide you.
Is it really okay to use a vibrator in midlife?
Yes.
There is nothing inappropriate or excessive about using vibration.
Regular vaginal activity and stimulation can help support circulation and tissue health during and after menopause.
For many women, vibration also helps maintain arousal response, which can change with age.
We carry body-safe options selected specifically for midlife comfort and sensitivity.
There is no pressure. Only permission.
What if I have very sensitive skin or have reacted to products before?
Midlife tissue can be more sensitive than it used to be.
We prioritize formulas without synthetic fragrance and avoid common irritants where possible. However, every body is different.
If you are prone to reactions, we recommend:
• Reviewing full ingredient lists
• Patch testing externally first
• Speaking with your healthcare provider if you have recurring irritation or infections
If you have questions about a specific ingredient, email us. We are happy to answer clearly.
Is this safe if I’m using hormone therapy or other medications?
Non-hormonal lubricants and moisturizers are commonly used alongside hormone therapy.
However, every situation is individual.
If you are using prescription vaginal estrogen, systemic hormone therapy, or have a diagnosed condition, check with your healthcare provider.
Our products are non-hormonal and do not replace medical treatment.
